The Reef Master with an illustrious past is awakened from the deep sea, digs deep into Phoibos’ closet, and comes out with some snappy and casual outfits. As the latest incarnation of the Reef Master, this new model (ref.PY047) offers up a cool and fresh new take on this brand's classic series. With its combination of attractive design and great quality, it’s an all-purpose dive watch that is versatile enough to be worn under a variety of conditions.
This new model comes with a refreshed look, but it still does all the things that made the original so iconic, like the emblematic sandwich dial - a dial that consists of a bottom layer printed with lume and a top layer with cutouts that expose the lume underneath. Through the cutouts designed for indices on the top side, the indented Super-LumiNova lume shines in dark and adds subtle visual depth to an otherwise straightforward layout. Besides, the stenciled numbers for 3, 6, 9, and 12 indices are also the distinctive design element adding a somewhat playful feel to it. The omission of a date display makes a perfect symmetry created by the simple and clean layout of the dial.
This iteration offers up plenty of dial color options including Shamrock Green, Pitch Black, Fossil Gray, Silver White, and Lemon Yellow allowing you to choose the desirable color to match your individual taste. Paring with an intriguing grainy textured finish, these dials would be more charismatic and dynamic on your wrist.
Outside of the redesigned dial, the new models are more-or-less identical to the Reef Master watches you know and love. Crafted from high-quality 316 stainless steel, the case is presented in a sleek and elegant look owing to the perfect combination of brush and polish finish. Inside the 42mm X 48mm stainless steel case, a reliable SII NH38 automatic movement ensures you'll never miss a beat. The domed sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel provide protection from scrapes and scratches. With the 200M water resistance, it can be used to basically enjoy any sports that involve water.
Phoibos certainly knows to dig deeper into its heritage and work on the tried-and-tested successes of the past, it certainly knows how to refine and improve upon its initial design and revamped the original classic into a new look. The new-in Reef Master would tell all and be a good investment in quality craftsmanship and timeless design.
